CACI Celebrates the 239th Birthday of U.S. Navy

Friday the 13th, in October 1775, was actually a very fortunate day in U.S. history. On this date, the U.S. Navy was born when the Continental Congress voted to send out two ships with a crew of 80 men each for three months for the purpose of "intercepting such transports as may be laden with warlike stores and other supplies for our enemies."

While the last 239 years have seen the service grow from a Continental Navy of 160 sailors and two deployed ships to more than 325,000 sailors, 290 ships, and 3,700 operational aircraft, our founders' vision for the Navy to remain important to U.S. national security and our economic well-being is still very much in place.

The Navy has a legacy of supporting American military efforts from the Revolutionary War to the current war on terrorism. CACI is proud to have been a partner to the service for the past half century in providing new technologies and operational concepts the Navy has needed to adapt to the rapidly evolving threats of the modern age.

The Navy has also played an important role in CACI's evolution, as our very first contract in June 1963 was to research and simulate selected operations of an inventory control point at a Navy Ships Parts Control Center.

Today, we count the world's largest navy as one of our most valued and long-standing customers. We support our Navy customers with solutions in everything from logistics, combat systems, and cyberspace, to intelligence, networks, and signals communications.

This October 13, we express our thanks to all our nation's sailors, past and present, whose unswerving dedication to honor, courage, and commitment helps keep America safe. Their good character and vigilance continues to deter aggression from on, above, and below the sea - and preserve the freedoms we hold dear.
