CACI Chairman Dr. J.P. (Jack) London's 2012 CAUSE Gala Opening Remarks
Good evening! And thank you all for joining us tonight for the 2012 CAUSE Veteran's Day Benefit Gala. My name is Jack London. And thank you, John and Pam. I am truly honored to be the Honorary Chairman of this year's gala. I am also Chairman at CACI. I got involved with CAUSE at Walter Reed back in 2003. And we have been ardent supporters of CAUSE ever since.
CAUSE's mission struck a chord with us. Their programs provide opportunities for recreation, relaxation and resiliency for members of the U.S. Armed services recuperating from injuries received in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's simply put in CAUSE's mission that: "To recover physically and emotionally, wounded warriors need more than medical care alone."
This annual gala helps CAUSE fulfill its mission to help our many wounded warriors who, after fighting for our country, fight for their recovery and their own well-being. This gala is also an opportunity for all of us to say thank you to these wounded warriors by supporting – and generously donating – to CAUSE.
I'd like to thank those organizations who have already committed their support – our Gala Sponsors. They are listed in your programs. Thanks also go out to all of CAUSE's supporters who made donations to this evening's silent auction. There are many fascinating items available and I encourage everyone to bid high and bid often!
I also want to recognize Pam Derrow and the fine staff at CAUSE for not only for producing tonight's gala, but for all of their hard work on a daily basis. And thanks go to Judy Caldwell and her fine gala committee. Thank you all for everything you do!
On this Veteran's Day, as we celebrate CAUSE and the many wounded warriors that it helps, let's also remember those blessed men and women of our armed forces who gave their lives in service to their country. My wife, Jennifer, and I especially remember our nephew, 1st Lt. Aaron Seesan, USA, who was killed in action by an IED in Mosul, Iraq in 2005. And our appreciation also goes to my son-in-law, Jed Dennis, who served 365 days "boots on the ground" in Afghanistan in 2007. And we thank those who are still serving and risking their lives for all of our freedoms and safety. God bless them all.
So, I offer a final 'thank you' to all of you here tonight for supporting CAUSE and all of America's servicemen and women. Your generosity and kindness will go a long way in helping those who protect us.
God bless you all! And God bless the USA!
